On Saturday, March 6th, I had pleasure of attending TEDxNYEd, an independently organized and run TED conference. The organizers and team decided to run an event with an educational focus. During the course of the day, 14 live speakers and thinkers challenged the participants to rethink our assumptions and imagine new ways to think about teaching and learning. At the end of the day, I was overwhelmed by the possibilities and new ideas which were swirling through my head. But as is the case with many professional learning days, I was not able to immediately put most of those ideas into my personal practice and the thoughts evaporated.
With the leadership the conference's curator David Bill, the rest of the TEDxNYEd organizing committee, and Eddie Stein, the TEDxNYED videos from each of the live speakers have been posted to the TEDx YouTube page (http://goo.gl/A7a8). The videos can also be accessed on our website: http://tedxnyed.com. I am now slowly reviewing and savoring each of these videos so that I can rekindle the excitement and ideas generated during the conference, and to further pursue points that I missed while trying to drink from the fire hose.
In addition, the TEDxNYEd team is hosting a reflective discussion of each of the 14 speakers via our Twitter, using the TEDxNYEd hashtag #tedxnyed. The first one occurred yesterday, April 21st and will be continuing over the next four weeks. The next one is on Friday, April 23rd and the complete schedule can be found at http://goo.gl/yW0b
